Day 18 Bercianos del Real Camino to Mansilla de las Mulas

Day 18, off the beaten path a bit, but the stay last night was worth it. Walked alongside a quiet road for a very long time.

Long stretch of open fields. This is the first time, I fertilized the Spanish countryside, early this morning! lol

As we walked we stopped at a picnic table, one of many spread along this route, to eat some fruit. (No, was not an apple, lol)

We entered a clean, small village, named Reliegos.

At the Bar Elvis, there was a short connecting leg from the other route. While we were resting, Christine from Australia, came from the other route.

Slicing a ham for a bocodilla
As we rested, I had a bocodilla made from ham and cheese. One thing about Spain, they do not have condiments! The pan (bread) is dry and so was the ham and cheese. It was good, but next time, I'm bringing packets of mayo! lol
I shared half of the bocodilla with Christine and exchanged stories. She informed us of the rough Roman road. Next time, I will walk that route.

After a refreshing break, we started walking again. After about 6 km, we entered Mansilla de las Mulas, a good size town of 1900 people. We stayed in albergue Amigos del Peregrino. We hooked back up with Peter again from the other route. Tomorrow, we would see the big city of Leon!

Today, we walked 20.5 kn or 12.7 miles.
