Day 10, Another early morning start. This time, we were going to stop in between the guidebook's recommended stages to stay at a 14th century church which ran an albergue. The Hospital de Peregrinos San Juan Bautista albergue was said to be a unique experience. The price was donativo or what ever you donate.
This day would take us 22.4 km or 13.4 miles. The journey would take us through Santo Domingo De Calzada. I now wish we had toured the Cathedral of Santo Domingo de la Calzada, where there is a rooster and hen kept in a coop in the cathedral. You need to Google the story behind the "Miracle of the Cock" which dates back to the 14th century.
Arrived in mid afternoon, and found the Church and adjacent albergue.
Got a place upstairs to sleep on a mat. It was very surprising, but the building was very cool, it had a natural convection breeze throughout.
Guess what we had?
Polenta again, lol

The next day would prove a turning point for the Camino family that we had become.
