Day 11, started early as usual. We had enjoyed staying at the old church, so we set out this morning knowing that Pip had to be home on the 14th. Jane (who was from Boston, but now lives in Ireland) and Jess who is from Australia, were having some issues with blisters on their feet. We walked together for a while in the morning but they realized they could not continue the mileage up as long as their feet were in the shape they were in. They needed to slow down a bit and let the feet recover and heal.
We stopped for a morning break and the girls was having some problems, so they worked on their feet some. We headed out from Belorado and they kept up for a while.

Ermita Virgen de la Pena
(virgin hermitage of grief) |
Somewhere near Tosantos, the girls decided to stop and rest their feet. This will be the last time I saw them. We have exchanges pictures and greetings on Facebook. So now, it is Pip, Doll and me walking together. We walked by a large field of sunflowers. Sunflowers must be a big crop in Spain, we saw several fields along the way.
We walked until we got to Villafranca Montes De Oca. The first albergue, there was no one interested in us staying there. We went in and asked for a bed, and no one would even talk to us. So we went up the hill to a hotel San Anton Abad. It was a new place and the owners were very friendly. The man gave me a Columbia hat to wear. That night the lady who owned it and me had a conversation for about 30 minutes. what was so weird, she could not speak English and my Spanish is very limited. I hope I didn't offend anyone! lol

A typical wash day on the Camino |
We had walked 27.6 km or 16.6 miles. The next day was hilly and Pip was wanting to go all the way to Burgos to book his transportation back to England. Doll decided she was going to walk with him to keep him from going alone. So, I decided to go too!
